Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters

Supporter Spotlight

alt

CCHI is the certification program created by interpreters, for interpreters and the public good, and we have involved thousands of interpreters and users of interpreter services in our work. Our list of supporters continues to grow and we invite you to join us because your talents and expertise are critical to ensuring we get it right and that we respect the certification concerns and best practices established by many in the healthcare interpreting industry. We would like to spotlight one of our supporters - Certified Languages International (CLI).

CLI is one of the largest language services providers in the world, and has remained at the forefront of over-the-phone (OPI) interpreting services since their founding in 1996. They have maintained an enormous commitment to the healthcare industry since their inception, and specialize in providing highly qualified professional interpreters skilled in healthcare-specific terminology and competent in diverse medical settings. They are keenly aware of the critical nature of using qualified interpreters in healthcare - and of the detrimental effects that can result when an interpreter is not proficient in this specialized field.

CLI identified early the value in supporting CCHI’s efforts, and has long emphasized making philanthropic contributions to organizations affiliated with the interpreting profession and the wider language community. These efforts benefit not only interpreters, but also the end users - individuals with limited English proficiency, for whom accessing healthcare services can be particularly challenging.

CLI reinforces the highest of industry standards when it comes to selecting professional interpreters. On average, CLI experiences an annual growth of 25%, which allows them to allocate resources and dedicate time to collaborating with other industry leaders to further the profession of healthcare interpreting at large.

“Our customers share our belief that by utilizing only the most experienced and trained interpreters, together we raise the number of positive healthcare outcomes. Our customers understand that by choosing CLI as their provider of OPI, they in turn are supporting the vital work that CCHI is doing to eliminate the health care disparities for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients.”
— Kevin Cunningham, Sales Executive

CLI's long-term plans for growth and expansion include:

  • Continuing to invest in innovative technology to deliver accurate, efficient, and quality language services;
  • Advocating on behalf of our interpreters to ensure that the industry is keeping their best interests in mind; and
  • Remaining a significant player in the provision of interpreters in healthcare by cultivating our partnerships with organizations such as CCHI.
